theo is impulsive, and he never thinks before he speaks. he firmly believes in the "you only live once" code and does whatever he pleases, whenever he pleases, and he is not above using his body to get what he wants out of people. be it money, power, or favors.he is empathetic, but never knows how to comfort another person. he would much rather ignore any emotion than struggle to comprehend it, and he would push that belief onto anyone he cares about or considers a 'friend'. emotions are his one weakness, and he hates when a good night out is ruined by them. on the bright side, he's always willing to do anything dangerous, as potentially dangerous and maybe life threatening = a great time for theo, granted if he is with other likeminded adventurers.theo has quite the ego on himself, and considering who his friends are, he believes himself to be untouchable. but underneath all that lies a mountain of insecurities.

rumors + backstory

not much is known about theodore lupin, all that is known is a rumor that he is the singular heir to a foreign dynasty that was said to have died off hundreds of years ago. but that seems completely impossible! with his rugged personality and rather informal way of speaking, there is no way that could be anything other than a rumor. bearing the last name 'lupin', people seem to assume that they know a lot about him, but end up learning that they knew nothing at all. Despite him seeming mysterious, he is really not so secretive at all.theo was born to a noble family not known for their kindness. he was raised in a brutal environment, being the first born to his father, reginald lupin. he was raised to know how to lead, how to take charge and be a beacon when all seems lost. he is trained in many styles of fighting, making him an excellent soldier. this came in handy growing up, when many attempts on his life were made.growing up, theo had two younger brothers. one who he adored and vowed to protect until his last breath, and the other who turned green with envy at the special treatment theo received for being their father's heir. as much as theo loved him, he never could get close to him, and he stopped trying after a few years.theo's relationship with his second youngest brother reached a breaking point on theo's 19th nameday. it was his brother's 17th when he challenged theo to a duel. this duel was to be to the death, as theo's brother felt he was unfit and ungrateful for their father's attention. their duel was watched by their father, mother, and other brother, along with all of their father's colleagues and fellow nobles. reginald views this day as the day theo proved himself capable of up his mantle. theo, on the other hand, views this as the worst day of his entire life. after killing his brother in this duel, theo was granted the title kinslayer. to everyone else, it was a symbol of his strength. to theo, it was his biggest sin.when theo was 19, he killed his brother. when theo was 20, he killed his father. after months of having the same nightmare every night, of theo standing victoriously over his brother's mauled body, and his father, smirking ever so proudly of him, theo had reached peak insanity. he challenged his father to a duel to the death. and his father, being the egotistical power figure he was, agreed. the fight was long, grueling, both parties using all of their strength yet not wanting to yield.theo's father was not a good man. he dabbled in many forbidden magics, none of which were good. blood magic happened to be one of them, and during this duel, he attempted to steal theo's aether to extend his own life and win the duel. this would've killed theo in the process, but his raging hatred for his father gave him an unknown advantage, letting him tap into an unknown fountain of power from the eikon fenrir. using this power, he beat and killed his father. automatically making theo the new head of the house of lupin. theo declined this offer, and that night he packed his things, and left.whether he was exiled or is allowed to return is a mystery.. one he is not keen on finding out.

present time

currently theo spends most of his time in ul'dah as a sellsword. whether that be as a bodyguard or mercenary. he has not had any contact with his family in seven years, but still has the same recurring nightmares of killing both his brother and father. sometimes he wakes up in a cold sweat, panicking, looking furiously around like he is still home.. but once he realizes he is in his shabby yet comfortable room in the goblet, he relaxes. it is simply routine for him.when he wishes to escape his past, he travels or spends time helping around the quicksand or the sapphire avenue, simply to ease his own conscience. everyone he's helped would say he is a kind soul, albeit slightly misunderstood. theo believes his soul will never be free of the sins he committed, yet will never stop trying.theo has made many friends in the years he has been in eorzea. friends he trusts and treasures, but never enough to tell them about his past.
